07/18: Customer Service Workshop

To help those in customer service industries learn more about how to deal with customer complaints and internal workplace conflicts, New River Community College (NRCC) will offer a free, two-hour workshop entitled “Customer Service Recovery: What to Do When Things Go Wrong,” featuring speaker Bobbie Walker. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at NRCC in Dublin.

Walker, of the Virginia Tourism Corporation, will cover several topics during the workshop including embracing complaints as a way to re-engage customers, empowering front-line staff to effectively deal with difficult situations and recognizing complaint management as a critical element of business strategy.

Following the “Customer Service Recovery” session, Walker will also offer a workshop entitled “Turning Talent Into Performance,” on July 18 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., which deals with management and employee motivation. Participants will explore concepts such as selecting employees for their talents, setting expectations that define the right outcomes, motivating employees by focusing on their strengths and developing employees to help them find the right fit. The fee for this workshop is $40.

Registration information for “Customer Service Recovery” and “Turning Talent Into Performance” is available by calling the NRCC Office of Workforce Development at 540-674-3600, ext. 4363.
