NRCC to offer over 100 distance education classes

As part of New River Community College’s efforts to increase educational access, the college will offer over 100 distance education (DE) classes for the fall 2010 semester.

Distance education classes enable students who have transportation, scheduling or other difficulties to pursue their academic goals outside of the traditional classroom environment.

DE courses provide the same quality and content as their on-campus, direct-instruction counterparts while offering flexibility and technologically forward delivery methods for course materials. Some of the many delivery formats used in DE courses include: telecourses, mixed media, computer/software and live two-way interactive instruction.

Among the distance education classes offered for the fall 2010 semester (beginning August 23) are beginning Spanish I, art appreciation, college success skills, general biology I, and principles of marketing.

Enrollment is now in progress at http://www.nr.edu .

More information about is available from the Distance Education office at (540) 674-3614 or online at http://de.nr.edu .
