State Police Warn of Flooding

According to the National Weather service the New River area has experienced 2 to three inches of rain in the past 24 to 36 hours. Minor flooding has been reported in the New River Basin area.
 

4-H Archery Program

archeryMontgomery County 4-H is starting an archery program. Michelle Dickerson and Lesa Miller will be leading the program. Both are 4-H certified archery instructors. The program will include 5 practice sessions this year.
   

03/23: NRV Agency on Aging

New River Valley Agency on Aging Advisory Council and Board of Directors Meeting Tuesday, March 23 at the office of the New River Valley Agency on Aging. The Advisory Council meeting will be at 10 a.m. and the Board of Directors meeting will be at 1 p.m., These meeting are open to the public. Inclement weather date, March 30.
   

03/20: Sierra Hike

Conditions permitting. Five mile, one-way hike from Rt. 613 near Wind Rock, descending Big Mountain to Rt. 635. Meet at the Kroger University City Blvd. parking lot in Blacksburg at 9 a.m.
   

Sierra Club Location Change

The New River Sierra Club's third Wednesdays at 5 p.m. meetings are moving to the China Inn on Draper Rd. across from the Blacksburg Public Library. Non-members welcome! Contact Maria 540-239-2583.
